The fiefdom of Braygen's Hollow sits sixty miles downriver from the kingdom of Thistlefeld. Officially, it is a holding of the kingdom of Doramand, but the throne of Doramand is currently in dispute. In addition, with Thistlefeld reasserting its power in the region, its possible Paladin Valmaer may decide to lay claim to the fiefdom if Doramand remains in turmoil.

The fiefdom, located at a wide bend of the Calrac river, is small. It consists of little more than a modest castle, the beginnings of a village, and the open land surrounding it. The castle sits atop a low hill, and a small group of buildings cluster around a disused pier. The buildings include a tavern, a few shops, and a handful of residences. All of the businesses are closed and most of the houses are abandoned.

A king, whose name is now forgotten, ordered the construction of the castle at Braygen's Hollow around a hundred years ago. It was one of many attempts over the years to revitalize the trade route through Darkav Pass and down the Calrac. Like so many before it and since, this attempt failed. Eventually the castle and village were abandoned.

With more traffic moving up the Calrac to Thistlefeld in recent days, there are reports that the castle is occupied once again. Lights have been seen in the high towers, boats were spotted at the dock, and one merchant claims he saw laborers repairing one of the walls.

Of course if the rumors are true, the would-be tenant may have a formidable task ahead of them. In the years that the area lay unguarded, more than a few monstrous creatures made lairs in the area. It will be interesting to see if the new ruler is up to the challenge this presents.
